Engaging the Customer

When you first encounter the customer and ask them how you might help them you are likely to hear three common responses, including: “I know what I want,” “I’m just looking” and “I’m not really sure.” Each one will require different actions on your part, which are outlined in this section.

Asking the Right Questions
Throughout the entire selling process remember to ask plenty of questions that solicit more than just a “Yes” or “No” response. Good selling requires effectively communicating with customers. And before you can provide the answers your customers are looking for, you need to first ask plenty of questions.

Even when customers don’t seem like they want to be bothered with any help or they say they’re just looking, it doesn’t mean they won’t eventually need your help.
